Digitalis started 20 years ago in the Netherlands as an enterprise for digital pharmaceutical care and medicines management by means of:
- Publishing, content management & distribution of electronic prescription guidelines
- Implementation of electronic guidelines and integration in GP prescribing practices (Electronic Prescribing System, Prescriptor)
- Production, content management desk- editing & publication of interactive Matrix-models as rational and transparent decision analytic models for the clinical selection of medicines
- Development of web & workshoptools for the application of matrix models online and in live group settings
Digitalis Medicines Management Ltd is established in Dublin, Ireland in 2008 and started the same year a north-south collaboration as a partner of the Northern Health and Social Care Trust in Belfast: 
. This partnership aims at the further commercialization, research and development and service support of STEPSelect. STEPselect is an Information Service, Toolbox & Consultancy kit for the rational, transparent and economic selection and procurement of medicines and medical devices.
