Design of Prescriptor

With Prescriptor-EPS, the prescriber can apply a set of guidelines from multiple sources. The guideline database consists of a classification of diseases and conditions, therapy indications, therapy directions and prescription options. These therapy directions and choices are designed to help the physician find prescriptions suitable for many different practice situations, while at the same time making available a comprehensive set of alternative choices. At all times the prescriber stays in the driving seat and controls the selection of therapy choices, with a national database with all available drugs within easy reach.

Given a disease or condition, Prescriptor-EPS can help propose suitable prescription choices, taking into account the age, sex, allergies, currently prescribed medication and comorbidity of the patient. It brings order to these complex information streams and it invites the physician ‘on demand’ to reflect on information from various sources (protocols, monographs, background information etc.). In addition to prescriptions, Prescriptor can even provide non-medicinal advice and comes with a comprehensive set of patient advice leaflets which may be printed.

Prescriptor-EPS is based upon a centrally maintained web service. The Prescriptor web service is accessed by the medical record system of the physician via a request with all necessary patient data (age, sex, disease, indication, directions etc) and provides a customized guideline, with all eventual alerts and warnings (individualized allergies, contra-indications, interactions).
